Novosibirsk, the city of labor valor, and Moscow, the hero city, were chosen for the commemorative event. In the first months of the war, trains with equipment from 32 factories arrived in Novosibirsk, and the city's population immediately grew from 400,000 to 578,000 people. Novosibirsk provided the country with almost a third of all ammunition, and every third Soviet Yak fighter was manufactured by workers at the V. P. Chkalov Aviation Plant. In aggressive plans, the capture of Moscow was of paramount importance — it was with the fall of the capital that the complete victory of the German troops was associated. As a result of fierce battles that lasted for more than 200 days, the enemy was pushed back hundreds of kilometers. Many memorials and monuments are dedicated to the events of the war years in Moscow.
